Architects Smalley Marsey Rispin have just been awarded the prestigious ‘Collaborative Working’ Award in the 2015 Committed to Construction in Humber & West Yorkshire Awards.

The Awards, which were presented at a gala dinner at the Leeds Royal Armouries, celebrate outstanding achievement in the construction industry in the Humber and West Yorkshire region.

The award sponsor noted that SMR Architects attracted particular attention this year because,

“The judges were impressed by how the winner of this category used the principles and protocol of BIM to draw together the expertise within the supply chain and align with the client’s values, as well as proactively resolve any potential “clashes” before they reached site, thus having a positive impact on cost and any potential health & safety issues”.

As part of the award evidence, SMR focused on its distribution work and described both the design services for the Waitrose Ambient NDC and the BIM Coordinator role the company has undertaken on behalf of WinVic Construction.

Tim Reeve, Technical Director at Winvic Construction commented,

“Winvic have worked with SMR for a number of years on the John Lewis Partnership framework and consider SMR a leading architects practice in the logistics sector. They provide an excellent service, are willing to explore alternative solutions and work seamlessly alongside our team to help us deliver first class facilities. Their ability to collaborate at many different levels through the course of the project is exemplary.”

Collaboration and communication lie at the heart of SMR’s ethos and will remain key drivers as we continue to develop our service offering. In addition, being teamwork driven means the practice is always willing to go the extra mile to design the right scheme and ensure a smooth project delivery.  A commitment to pushing the true adoption of BIM technologies is demonstrating real benefits for both SMR’s clients and the whole project team, significantly improving design responsiveness and maximisation of efficiency for our clients, and the SMR team will continue to develop these practices in the years to come.

Says Amanda Marsey Managing Director at SMR Architects,

‘It is a massive honour for SMR Architects to have been recognised so early in our development, we have a great team and were up against significant competition. I would like to congratulate our whole team on a great collective effort.’
